Real Life Case Study-Apple and Tim Cook

Tim cook, the CEO of Apple,have to deal with a issue with FBI. FBI requested Apple to unlock the terrorist’s iphone because its lock system didn’t allow FBI to crack its passcode easily. However, if apple unlock the iphone, it means Apple release customer’s privacy. Also, once Apple unlock the iphone, many other people may request Apple to unlock their iphone. In order to keep Apple’s brand, Tim need to make a right decision as soon as possible.

Basic Communications Inc.

Peter Simpson, the supervisor of several employees at Basic Communications Inc., faces an issue with two subordinates, William Blake and Melissa Carthidge, teasing John Chanley. Peter assumes that this bullying has made John uncomfortable at work, but he is unsure of the exact details regarding the issue. Peter needs to determine the extent and nature of bullying and appropriately deal with William and Melissa so that the negative behavior stops. Recommendation

Solution 2 would be better for solving the bullying because of these following reasons. First, because these three people, Melissa, William, and John can have an opportunity to talk togather, they might say what they don’t like about each other, and they can repair ther relationship. Second, by holding a meeting with Peter, John can feel secure to complain about the bullying. Finally, this is the fastest and the most simple way to improve the situation.

advantage: They don’t need to find new director.

disadvantage: Frank might not listen to them because he has a great background.

Solution2: The employees carry on boycott.

advantage: Frank will have no other way other than change his habits.

disadvantage: All employees need to have the same thinking.

Recommendation: Solution2

I think 2 will be better because of following reasons. First, because it will affect on their job, Frank will have no other ways other than change his way of managing. Second, because the boycott is going to conducted by all employees, Frank might know that how strong their will is.

Since the company hired Frank Miller as the director of the information services department, the employees were confused because Frank messed up the traditions of the company by making some reckless changes. Therefore, Mile had to fire Frank in order to get back the peace in the company, and to stop the employees leaving. Mike had to fire him in a month since Frank had been hired.

-Frank Miller broke the traditional ways of the Smith Financial Corporation.

-The employees were confused and unsatisfied with Frank’s decisions.

-Mike Campbell fired Frank Miller because Frank messed up the company.

-Frank might have been disappointed to be fired because he had been very motivated to improve the company.

Solution

Send a letter to their customer, and apologize to them. Furthermore, attach a gift card and a direction to fix their car at home.

-The customers can feel that Cole Motors is very sorry about the trouble, so that the company can keep its brand and respect well.

Disadvantage

-It might cost a lot.

-Some customers might be angry because they have to fix by themselves.

-Some employees are going to get better work environment more than before.

-Some hourly and salary employees are going to be fired.

-Some fired employees might not be convinced with the reason for the firing because other employees are going to get better work environment.

-Weymouth Steel Corporation might develop well, and become a worldwide big company.

-Their employees might get more motivation to work because they get better work environment.

These disorders are not so serious that customers can fix by themselves at home. The company has to give a solution in order to keep respect and brand. Because a board meeting is held three days later, so Patrick must decide how to solve this issue in three days.

Carl Weymouth, who is he chairman of Weymouth steel corporation, has to decide how to deliver a good news and a bad news to his employees. The good news is some of them will get more payment and benefits. The bad news is some of them will be fired. He has to decide which medium he will use, how many communications he will take, and who is going to sign the letter about the news. He needs to keep a good relationship with employees and medias, so that he can keep company’s loyality and respect. Because he is going to go to Japan in a few days, these issues have to be solved as soon as possible.
